If you think about it from all we've seen while the xenomorphs realize they need hosts to reproduce and things to hunt, we've never seen them realize that they could overhunt said things. I was always under the impression that the xenomorphs weren't telepathic and that they already used pheromones to direct the hive.Īnd considering the Tyranids idea, to me the xenomorphs already seemed really similar to the Tyranids already, primarily in how they effect environments. Say a Marine Exosuit turns up and starts mowing down swarms with a mi-un or flames, the King could give off a scent that drives the drones into an aggressive frenzy to overwhelm the suit, or a scent that causes them to adopt ambush predator behaviours and back off and stalk around. Maybe instead of having a massive telepathic tactician that makes the swarm act as a military unit, which is too close to the way Tyranid synapse works, you could have a big alpha leader that gives off pheromones that simply alter the way the other xenos act rather than outright controlling them. The Spear Master Predator holds a spear for defense and can take out multiple opponents that maybe nearby him. I completely get what you're saying about keeping them separate because they should both keep their own identity. You had the idea that the xeno takes on characteristics from its host, which set a -ing huge stage for basically the entire extended universe, and you also had the xeno back off from Ripley because it knew she was a carrier, which gave another big aspect to play with. It tried to do what the first film did but with some twists. My love for Alien is probably why I have such a huge nid boner too.
